Born September 27, 1914, in Atlanta, NY, daughter of Dana C. and Annie Akins Beecher. She was married January 20, 1934, in the Town of Fremont, to James W. Burdett, who survives. Formerly a resident' of Rochester, Leicester, Hornell and Bath, she moved to Arkport in 1983.

Dorothy was a bookkeeper and employed at the Bath VA, McConnell Manufacturing In Prattsburg, George Vogel, CPA in Bath and SUNY at Geneseo. During WW II she was employed by Associated Transportation in Binghamton and thus became the first woman Dispatcher of men, freight and equipment In New York State. She was a former member of Bath's Women's Republican Club and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Arkport. Survivors, in addition to her husband of 61 years, include a daughter, Joanne B. Conrad, of Geneseo; a son, James W.

Burdett II, of Phoenix; a sister, Frances E. Colvin, of Willard, Missouri; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
