Interment In Ontario Cemetery. Depot oinciais report mat me Italian prisoners who were sent here under the present international agreement, go about their work at the depot unguarded and un-uniformed. They are distin-gushed from other workers by sleeve bands bearing the name "Italy." These men, averaging in age about 26 years, it was learned yes terday, are repairing railroads at the depot, handling1 heavy cases and the like and are carrying out their duties very conscientiously. While their arrival has relieved to some little extent the labor shortage at the depot, Ralph W. Johnson, United Staton Civil Service recruiting rrpreaontative yesterday announced the urgent need of hundreds of workers at the depot.

The need at the depot never was so great for workers as it is at the present time, Jrhnson said. Pointing to the necessity of stepping up operations here as the result of the Allied invasion, John son sent an appeal to persons in this area to answer the depot's crying need for workers. He announced yesterday that the depot needs junior and senor male laborers, fire fighters, junior patrolmen, automobile mechanics, tire re pairmen, tractor trailer drivers and male munition handlers. John son emphasized the immediate need of scores of munition handlers and stressed the importance of this work at the Ordnance Depot here, Also, he said, there are immediate openings for female clerks and typsts. "The work of the depot must go on," Johnson said, "and I feel there are sufficient workers in this area who can hip us in this great em ergency." Persons now engaged in essential activities, he said, will not be con sidered for any of the jobs.
