On December 1 1 1 978, we filed tariffs with the Public Service Commission to increase our intrastate rates by $240 million. We are asking, however, that the request for S240 million include $160 million in additional revenues, and $80 million from a request still pending before the Commission. In the case still pending we asked to raise rates for selected business-type terminal equipment, certain semi-public coin phone and private line-mileage services.

If the Commission grants us all or part of the $80 million, the request for $240 million would be reduced by the amount granted. The combined requests amount to an overall increase of 7 and are within federal price guidelines. The tariffs were filed with a proposed effective date of January 11, 1979. However, the proposal requires action by the Commission and may be modified during the course of its deliberations. This tiling provided lor the introduction ol a new $4.25 installation charge tor jacks and a reduction in the installation charge tor non key telephones trom $12.50 to $8.25. The $8.25 installation charge was further divided by the Company's December 1, 1978 "Unbundling" tiling, into a $5.00 Wire Installation Charge and a $3.25 Station Installation Charge. The Wire Installation Charges tor button sets and Call Director telephones in the "Unbundling" tiling are higher charges. Two installation charges each apply to the sets and the wire.
